LUDHIANA: It was a bit too late to celebrate Karva Chauth and a tad too early to herald Diwali. But the members of Aarsee Ladies Club enjoyed both the festivals with aplomb during joint festivities on Thursday. The programme was organized at a hotel on Ferozepur Road.
Dressed in their smashing best, the ladies kept each other entertained with dance performances and skits based on the theme of Karva Chauth.
After a round of tambola, the members took part in stage performances. After a group of five danced on a Bollywood number and staged a play, another member, Bawa Magoo, enthralled the audience with her solo dance performance. Surprise gifts were given to those dressed in different styles.
The members had also put up their stalls in the exhibition, which included things like imitated jewellery, dress material and stitched suits and candles. The event ended with distribution of Diwali gifts among members. Basant Avenue resident Pinki Kalra shared, "The vibrant members added sparkle to the day and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.''
Meanwhile, the fun-loving members of Shivalik Ladies Club got a chance to enjoy themselves when an 'antakshari' was organized to celebrate Diwali, here on Thursday. Attended by 55 women, the party was organized at a hotel on Ferozepur Road. The event started with a game of tambola and a welcome address by club president Paramjeet Shivalik. Following that, three teams were constituted for the 'antakshari' round. The participants were Meena Bawa of Rajguru Nagar, Rachna Kumari of Barewal, Anu Joshi of Aggar Nagar, Ritika Goel of Professor Colony and Sonika Shivalik and Dimple Rani from Madhuban Enclave. The members enjoyed visual round, buzzer round and mono-acting. Team A emerged the winners and the others too were given Diwali gifts.
Satluj Club has planned a special Diwali party for its members on October 24 at the club's lawn. A laser show, grand fireworks and musical evening will be the highlights of the celebration. Sanjeev Dhanda, general secretary of the club, said artists will perform on the saxophone, flute, keyboard, tabla, dholak and octopad and make fusion music of popular numbers by renowned singers.
